Stephanie Wong, Ph.D

About me

Whatever brings you here – whether it’s exploring your identities, wanting to learn more about how your past impacts your present, or looking for coping skills to manage the ups and downs of living – you are welcome. I am committed to holding a safe space with you so that we can work toward building the life you want to live. My approach to therapy is informed by social justice and multiculturalism, which means that I consider clients’ healing within their unique cultural contexts and identities. I specialize in working with people navigating experiences of trauma, racial/cultural identity, anxiety, relationship issues, and body image concerns. I am dedicated to integrating and adapting evidence-based practices to best support you and promote recovery.”

Dr. Wong obtained her Ph.D. in counseling psychology from New York University and her M.A. and Ed.M. in counseling psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University. Her research and clinical experiences focused on the provision of culturally-responsive treatments for post-traumatic stress disorder and eating disorders in marginalized populations, particularly within Asian American Pacific Islander communities. Dr. Wong completed her APA-accredited internship and postdoctoral fellowship at the VA Palo Alto Health Care System, with a specialty focus on the assessment and treatment of complex trauma for individuals and couples. She has been trained extensively in the provision of evidence-based treatments for a wide range of mental health concerns, including Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Prolonged Exposure (PE), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). In addition to PBH, Dr. Wong is an adjunct professor at New York University, staff psychologist at the VA Palo Alto Healthcare System, involved in anti-racist activism, and is working toward her 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training certification.
