  Michelle Eisenberg, PhD
   Licensed Psychologist
   CA PSY31000
   michelle@penbh.com

I use evidence-based, cognitive behavioral treatments to help people recover from post-traumatic stress, anxiety, and depression. My goal as a therapist is to work collaboratively with you to understand the obstacles that are preventing you from living the life you want. We will work together to develop a treatment plan and engage in the steps that will lead to a fulfilling life. I approach treatment from a cognitive-behavioral perspective, meaning that your treatment will focus on finding new behaviors and ways of thinking that will help you achieve your goals. Expect to be active in your treatment and to practice the skills you will learn both during sessions and at home.

Dr. Eisenberg specializes in treating clients with a history of trauma. She has expertise in evidence-based treatments for Post-Traumatic Stress, including Cognitive Processing Therapy and Prolonged Exposure. She also has extensive experience treating depression and anxiety, including social anxiety, panic disorder, and specific phobias.

Dr. Eisenberg received her Ph.D. from Washington University in St. Louis in Clinical and Cognitive Psychology, where she received a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship and the Olin Fellowship. She completed her clinical internship at the VA Maryland Healthcare System, with a concentration in trauma treatment. She then completed her Postdoctoral Fellowship at Stanford University and the Palo Alto VA, with a clinical and research focus on developing new treatments for Post-Traumatic Stress. Throughout her research and clinical work, Dr. Eisenberg has focused on how Post-Traumatic Stress impacts the way people understand information and the world around them. Her primary goal is to help her clients gain the skills they need to be more successful in their personal and professional life.
