“I use evidence-based techniques to treat a variety of concerns, including PTSD, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, emotion dysregulation, and difficult adjustment to life transitions. As a therapist, I combine a warm approach, characterized by authenticity and humor, with a non-judgmental and respectful stance to foster a space where you can feel comfortable to explore, grow, and ask difficult questions. My approach to treatment is rooted in finding balance between acceptance and change, and I often use Dialectic Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy in my practice, as well as other therapies (CBT, CPT, PE). Every individual’s values, goals, and strengths are different, and I use a collaborative approach to help you make meaningful and lasting change according to your own unique vision for your life.”

Dr. Kurland graduated from the PGSP-Stanford PsyD Consortium, a joint program between Stanford University and Palo Alto University, with a doctorate degree in clinical psychology. She trained in a variety of settings, including Mills College Counseling and Psychological Services and El Camino Hospital, and helped conduct research at the Stanford University Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. Dr. Kurland completed her pre-doctoral internship at the VA Loma Linda Medical Center, and her postdoctoral fellowship at the VA Palo Alto Healthcare System, where she focused primarily on treating PTSD, adjustment difficulties, and personality disorders through the Women’s Trauma Recovery Program and the PTSD Clinical Team. Throughout her work, Dr. Kurland has combined a person-centered approach with evidence-based techniques to help individuals gain insight into what keeps them stuck and create meaningful change.
